HOLLYWOOD BURBANK AIRPORT REPALCEMENT PASSENGER TERMINAL

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority initiated a new passenger terminal at Hollywood Burbank Airport. The project is called Elevate BUR and is a Replacement Passenger Terminal (RPT) for the region's already convenient airport.  The project is led by a joint venture of Holder Construction, Charles Pankow Builders, and TEC Management.  Cefali & Associates contracted as the design arm of Malcolm Drilling Company's design-build team for the parking structure.  The shored excavation for the one-level below-grade structure accommodated for its large foundations, over-excavation requirements, and sequence of construction.  The sequence included coordination with existing structures, proposed grades, new retaining walls, and many new utilities.  It was a requirement of the project to coordinate and model our work in 3D.  Cefali & Associates used Revit to model the shoring and coordinated tieback clashes with utility trade partners in Navisworks.  As a user of the current facilities, the Cefali team looks forward to the project's successful completion.
